Guided Retreat: Praying with the Mystics: Our Holy Women and Men
Presenter:
Br. Michael Laratonda, FMS

This week-long silent retreat will explore the call for each of us to access the "mystic within" -not uncommon since we are all called to move closer to God during our lives. There will be 2 gatherings each day: morning prayer/conference, with suggestions for prayer - and a second session offering one of the following: communal prayer; open exchange of faith issue; film screenings applicable to the retreat themes. Eucharist will be celebrated throughout the retreat. Topics presented will include: "the monastery within"; mysticism and poetry; praying with mystics from a variety of faith traditions; nature and creation; love and transformation; more. Guided Retreat: Hidden in Plain Sight: Resting in the Mysteries of John
Presenter:
Alexander Shaia, PhD.
Description:
Day by day, we will walk slowly and intimately with the deep grace within John's Gospel. We will sit with The Prologue and Resurrection appearances - through talks, meditations and brief rituals. In the passion and insight of Dr. Shaia - these texts breath anew. Come rest, refresh and re-create.
It is often the case that despite our best efforts we lose touch with the sacred center at the core of our being, that "palace of nowhere", where we are one with God and at one with others. This sense of loss is an invitation to return to what matters most; that is, to spend time pondering the truth that God, others, and ourselves are dimensions of one vast mystery. This retreat is an opportunity to focus on elements of the spiritual life such as silence, solitude, prayer, and simplicity in an attempt to reconnect with our soul and to regain our spiritual balance.

Guided Retreat: The Spirituality of the Beatitudes
Presenter:
Rev. Michael Crosby, OFM
Description:
The core teachings of Jesus are the Beatitudes, yet most Christians cannot recount them. Instead very many still base their lives around the commandments. The beatitudes represent Jesus' vision of the life of a true believer, the way of an authentic disciple. The beatitudes will be represented as the essence of Christian discipleship, containing the necessary tools for living authentically in our complex world. The inner, outer, and communal dimensions of life will be addressed to present a holistic, evangelically-grounded spirituality geared to living in our political economy and institutional church.
