Guided Retreat: The Spirituality of the Beatitudes
Presenter:
Rev. Michael Crosby, OFMCap
Description:
The core teachings of Jesus are the Beatitudes, yet most Christians cannot recount them. Instead very many still base their lives around the commandments. The beatitudes represent Jesus' vision of the life of a true believer, the way of an authentic disciple. The beatitudes will be represented as the essence of Christian discipleship, containing the necessary tools for living authentically in our complex world. The inner, outer, and communal dimensions of life will be addressed to present a holistic, evangelically-grounded spirituality geared to living in our political economy and institutional church.
St. Paul says we are "baptized into" Christ. What does this mean? Does it make any difference in our daily lives, our relationships and our world? Capuchin Franciscan Michael Crosby will show how "The Christ" is the origin and goal of history itself and that this Christ is working it all out through us. That means that, "if anyone is in Christ that one is the new creation." Come for four hours of stimulating input and discussion.
Retreatants have the opportunity to reflect, pray, and discern God’s love and presence in their lives to cultivate a more transparent, intimate relationship with God. Each retreatant will have an individual retreat director for daily spiritual direction, in addition to daily Mass and massage. Retreat begins on Saturday after dinner at 7 pm, and will end the following Saturday with lunch. (NOTE: Massage is separate and paid directly to therapist.)
